Join the Listserv

Managed through Google Groups, the email Listserv is a formal channel for the Berkowners Inc. Board of Directors to communicate with shareholders and residents. It also provides a space to connect and discuss relevant topics with other Berkeley residents. A Google log-in is required.

Get Berkeley text notifications

The Berkeley has a email/text message "blast" system to share pressing announcements pertaining to our buildings—for example, an elevator or boiler getting unexpectedly shut down for repair, or our garden being closed for weather related reasons. This system is used sparingly.

Children’s and Babies’ Circle

The monthly Children's and Babies’ Circle is a wonderful opportunity for Berkeley families to meet, socialize, have fun and make friends. All children who are residents are invited to join us (with an adult) for story reading, musical instruments, marching/dancing/singing, crafts, and fun special events like the Bug Hunt and planting in the Children’s Garden.

Berkeley Social Club

The Social Club provides a welcoming venue for Berkeley residents to gather and socialize. The club hosts “BerkSocials” on the last Friday of every month from 7pm to 10pm in the Berkeley Community Room in the basement of 77th Street. If a scheduled Friday falls on a holiday, the co-chairs may designate an alternative date.

At the Socials, the club offers a variety of games including Bingo, Cards, Scrabble, Uno, Backgammon, and Sequence—or, you can bring your own tabletop game to share.

Compost Tumbler Group

A small organized group of Berkeley households contribute plant-based food scraps to an independently managed, insulated compost tumbler (not to be confused with NYC Department of Sanitation's curbside composting!). The results of their efforts creates community-made compost that’s available to all Berkeley residents and gardeners. The group collaboratively maintains and monitors the tumbler, and jointly participates in the compost harvesting process.

Our Berkeley community compost tumbler group was a case study in the Queens Climate Project's guide for successful composting in apartment co-ops
